I mean, really. Rebooting a character/franchise after one film just seems silly to me. While I don't totally hate the Affleck-fueled film, it's not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I particularly liked the representation off DD's radar sense. And Jon Favereau was good as Foggy Nelson, I thought. And Michael Clarke Duncan was great as the Kingpin. Of course, he's pretty damn good in everything. I did, however, really hate the helmet Affleck wore. It just didn't work with the exposed neck of the outfit.

Read about it here and here.

The original BSG was only 1 season (2 if you count that 1980 spin off/continuation) and that seemed to turn out better second time around.

Well, Hulk was just one movie, and it got a superior reboot. I think the Affleck film suffers from the curse of good intentions, but its fatal flaw was director Mark Steven Johnson's indecision throughout the production. I don't dislike it, and for short stretches it really captures the feeling of the Miller-era DD.

Frankly, I think the character would be better served by a 13 episode HBO or Showtime series that could really delve into the characters and relationships in play in Matt Murdock's life -- particularly his eternally doomed lovelife. At it's heart, Daredevil is a nuanced, hyperbolic crime noir thriller with ninjas and radiation in it, not a superhero story. And unless the reboot gets that, it'll just be history repeating itself.

I thought they would be focusing on movies about the heroes who become part of the Avengers movie. Daredevil is pretty much a standalone character.

That would be sad. I'd hate to see the Marvel movie franchises limited that way. I do think the Avengers characters are getting the front burner treatment, though.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone handling the Marvel movies is prepared to go that way. They don't expect audiences to want it, and for the most part they're right.

If they'd show the guts, though, they might get Dark Knight results. The question is, would people just accuse it of being a Dark Knight clone? (just as the early Daredevil as considered "the blind Batman")

Marvel Studios is. Daredevil is still at Fox; part of the reason they're making another one is because their rights lapse back to Marvel if they don't.

That is where they should have gone with it. You can't "get" DD by watching a 2 hour movie. There is too much back story and grit to pack this into a feature. Heck, the Electra, Bullseye, Origin, Kingpin back story would be 3 seasons worth right there. Add Foggy and the rest, 5 seasons for sure. One of my favourite storys is when they brought in Nuke around issue 230.

I have a feeling this isn't going to happen.

True. Sadly, the only way to do superheroes true justice (wait, did I just create another Justice League spin-off?) would be to have an entire Comic Book Network. Even then, within five years it would be showing Ghost Hunters and wrestling.

Ghost Hunters is a pox upon humanity. Of course, that's just an opinion.

Wait, I just noticed that this new Daredevil screenwriter wrote the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Well, so much for quality.
