Kage Baker, author of "The Company" novels, passes away

Kage Baker, author of the truly wonderful "Company" novels, passed away on Sunday after a battle with cancer. More story here and a lovely tribute essay here.

God, I dearly loved this woman's work. She was a writer who could literally have me laughing out loud on one page and wanting to sob on the next. Okay, I'm actually tearing up a bit about this (stupid, I know, I never met or communicated with her, I shouldn't be this upset), so I'm leaving it at this.
