JM Frey - aca!fan, cosplayer, geek!

Welcome to Geek University!

A raging fanthropologist at heart, I blog about aca!fans both well known and on the rise, programmes where scholars can geek to their heart's content, and interesting bits of news from the aca!fan realm.

Follow HCN's "Geek U" podcasts here, and my professional and academic writing here at Sci Frey. Or, read my novella (Back) here.

Other fun endeavors include The Swirlygate Project, a fan film series that seeks to satirize and therefore expose the gender and genre stereotypes inherent in Science Fiction, and my many cosplay adventures with Red Moon Creations, and my various and sundry fanfics.

I was in Cardiff in November to present at the Whoniversal Appeal academic confrence on all things Doctor Who, speaking about the Doctor's Canadian heritage. I also proposed that Torchwood 4 didn't vanish... it just moved to Canada!

GeekU: The Supernatural Audience Discussion

Every once and a while, as you know, I like to bring a discussion from the academic side of fandom to the attention of HCNers, especially when I think the topic is vital to continued relations between fans and creators. Today I want to outline an ongoing discussion happening… Continue

With my magnum opus of misery and destruction on the horizon you can imagine that I am rather busy. Putting the finishing touches on the particle accelerator packs and making sure the minions are in good shape. Not to mention my atomic dismemberment array needs some work. Busy busy busy!

However, I may be able to find some time to put together something for you. I would prefer that the majority of the recording be done in the lab as I have a fuller control over the quality. If you think you have something much more crisp though I will be more then happy to work with that. As for the professor... I'm not sure how good my Patrick Stewart is these days but I'd be wiling to give it my best.

I am free this saturday. Thats the best I got. Give me a call if you have my number, if not write on my wall here.

JM Frey! I seem to remember a wile back that we were supposed to "totally hang out". What happened to that? I would follow up on possible info through facebook if it wasn’t a blocked site here at work. Ohhh yes, I work for a bank. Slowly robbing them one day at a time… he he he HA HA! But these computers are monitored soooo I’m NOT robbing this place slowly one day at a time. And…. NOT laughing about it. Anyway! The weather is cold so lurking about and being evil is at an all time low therefore I am a vary bored villain. Care to “totally hang out”?
